The historic Southeast Library is currently closed for a full modernization. The Southeast Library, opened in 1922 is one of three Carnegie-funded libraries in D.C. and the second neighborhood library built. The modernization will provide expanded space for all ages to read, gather and learn; preserve and restore the building's historic elements; create a universally accessible entrance; feature an environmentally sustainable design and more. Customers will have a variety of interim services available to them during the renovation, including nearby access to the full-service Northeast Library.
