Dr Haykal obtained her MD degree from University of Damascus in Damascus, Syria, and subsequently received training in obstetrics and gynecology in Syria. Prior to her medical training in United States, Dr Haykal also worked as a research assistant at University of California Los Angeles at Women's Health. Her research by then focused on reproductive medicine and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Dr Haykal completed post-graduate training in internal medicine at the University of Central Florida. She completed her fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the National Institutes of Health Inter-Institute Endocrinology program.
